A Historic Moment: BK Girls Flag Football Team Plays Exhibition at Highmark Stadium as NYS Champions During Buffalo Bills Home Opener

Today, the Bishop Kearney (BK) community witnessed a moment of immense pride as our Girls Flag Football team, New York State’s first-ever champions, played an exhibition game against Orchard Park High School during halftime of the Buffalo Bills home opener at Highmark Stadium. This prestigious opportunity not only celebrates their groundbreaking championship but showcases the rising prominence of girls' flag football on one of the biggest stages in sports.
As the NFL fans looked on, our talented student-athletes demonstrated the skill, grit, and teamwork that led them to become state champions. The team’s extraordinary performance has earned national attention, having been featured on CBS, where their journey brought well-deserved recognition to both Bishop Kearney and the incredible talent of these young women.
A special highlight of the season has been the leadership of Coach Stephanie Strassner, whose passion for the game and dedication to her players have driven the team’s success. Coach Strassner was also recognized for her excellence in coaching, an honor that reflects her deep commitment to the program and to fostering the talent of these remarkable athletes.
